Looking for special way to aks for forgiveness from your wife? Maybe this can help you.
Once I sent a sorry poem to my wife.
Of course, I’m not a poet.
I made a slideshow using only our photos, the poem and her favorite song. Guys, I really didn’t expect it would end so well! She called me immediately after receiving it and we had a great time together.
By the way, the poem I sent to her is among others in this article. So, if you want to know which one I chose, write in the comments and make your guess.
by Edward Iacona
The phrase “I’m Sorry” you may agree
Has turned into a social amenity
We say “I’m Sorry” more than Brenda Lee
Which was a hit song for her back in 1960.
You may not want to acknowledge the damage you’ve done
The pain that you’ve brought to spouse, daughter or son.
But if you’ve done wrong you must see the light
To take a pro-active step to returning things right
There will remain feelings that you can’t erase
Lost time and memories that you can’t replace
Because of your actions now nothings the same
Take a look in your mirror and know that there’s blame.
Maybe those words are one’s you won’t do.
They may not exist in your new age point of view.
Or, don’t want to hear the anger, it might make you blue
It’s easier to leave your loved ones hurt and askew.
Just saying I’m sorry is not all it takes
No magical words to make gone the mistakes
Begin the road back with those words from your heart
They do not mark the end but maybe a start.
Your family’s your bond like no other glue.
A great family we had, can we renew?
Deep in your heart you know what to do.
If I can say “I’m sorry” then I think you can too.
Many tears you have shed
Till your eyes are all red
For all the hurtful words that I have said
When kinder words should have been uttered instead.
Now, I’m lying on my bed
Images of you in my head
Thinking of how many ways can sorry be said
Because if I know, I’ll say them all to you in a thread.
To Be One With Each Other
By George Eliot (1819-1880)
What greater thing is there for two human souls than to feel that they are joined together to strengthen each other in all labor, to minister to each other in all sorrow, to share with each other in all gladness, to be one with each other in the silent unspoken memories?
This is my favorite one. But it doesn’t mean that shorter is better. The main thing in writing or picking the right poem is the meaning that author gives between the lines.
My Beautiful Wife
By Vaughn Bekker
I love you babe with all my heart
Never from you do I want to part
If I had the power I would stop time
So that forever I could call you mine
Most precious moments we have shared
With you by my side I could never be scared
I`m sorry I have done things that have made you mad
But even more for those that have made you sad
You are so amazing my perfect little soul
You took my broken heart and made it whole
We`ve been together for ever so long
If I knew how I would write you a song
Thank you for the most amazing years
I`m sorry if ever I have brought you tears
My love for you could never be sold
I want to hold your hand, even when we`re old
I guess at the end what I am trying to do
Is say – my beautiful wife, I love you
by Sharon Hendricks
Those words should not have been spoken
The deed should not have been done.
But I realize that I was very wrong
and that I hurt your feelings badly.
So I ask you for your forgiveness
and hope that we are still friends.
Because inside my heart I’m empty
and feeling so sad I can’t stand it.
The harm is done and it’s time to ask for forgiveness. Try not to concentrate only on your feelings but think primarily of your wife’s emotions. Make her feel like she’s the only woman for you and then you’ll have good chances of success.
Have you ever hurt the one love,
By the things you didn’t say,
Have you ever thought , how it might be,
Had you apologized, in some way,
Have you carried the guilt, of passing the blame, onto the one you love,
Knowing you’ve caused them sleepless nights,
by rivers of tears that flowed
has it brought you to a lonely place,
has it robbed of your love,
You may not know, how to say your sorry,
and for once you were wrong,
have you embraced, who you really are,
did you truly let it go,,
can you say your sorry a time or two, and let the healing grow.
Two wrongs, don’t make a right,
This much, i know is true,
But i’d like to start somewhere,
By apologizing to you
Though I Broke My Promise and Your Trust
by Dimitri Shostakovich. Sequenced by J. Marques
Though I broke my promise and your trust,
My love for you remains as strong as ever.
I know it must mean little to swear never
Again to break my word, and yet I must.
What else can I do? Your fury’s just,
But all my world will darken if you sever
My heart from yours. Please wait, and I’ll endeavor
To blow new life into this mound of dust.
All that you require of me I’ll do
And more, if what you ask leaves room for more.
Thus time will heal this wound and leave no scar.
Since I now know the pain of losing you,
I’ll be yours more than I could before,
And you will see what my true feelings are.
What really makes a man? A sense of sharp humor or maybe a fancy suit? No. The main feature is his ability to keep his word. A guy who once promised and didn’t make good is worth nothing as a man. So, guys let’s learn how to be as good as our words.
Forgive My Mistakes
by Anna Liz Williams
I know I’ve made mistakes
So why should I even try
For when you look at me
All you see is that I lie
I’m sorry for the things I said
For giving you false truth in your head
I know that I’ve caused pain
that I drive you insane
Though you may not see what’s inside of me
You should know it’s deader than the Dead Sea
You may think that I don’t care
For all I give is just a stare
But what you don’t know
Is that the love I have for you is what glows
So I promise to try hard and to be true to you
So that our happiness will not be through
All I ask is one thing to see
Can you find it in your heart to forgive me?
For there is one thing I know is true
I do Love You
Lock and Key
by Rachel Sherwood
I hardly know where to look
anymore. Places have a
like the smell of my own sheets
or the close air of the kitchen —
fishbones on the drain
left in the ghastly order
of temporal things.
I have been sitting in this bar
for years now
the beer is stale, the wine off-color
the music is always the same,
old, sad songs that get older
no better than endless conversation
night after forgotten night
when all I or you can recall
is the dark, the traffic lights,
the bartender’s comments
about drunk women
in public places.
I would like to go home
finally, down the long streets
north and south crossed with small gold leaves;
I forget just where the hell
anything is. Locked out.
Often, it seems that nothing can be brought back. The harm is done and it’s time to repair the balance in your relationship. But many of us usually get puzzled thinking how to fix past mistakes. I’ll tell you a secret: there is no way. All you can do is to avoid a recurrence of bad times. Try to do your best.
by Derek P. Day
From time to time our relationship
Goes through troubled waters
And I say and do things that hurt you
Sometimes things don’t go the way
I expect them to
Anger and impatience get the best of me
Hurtful accusations are made
And unintentional things said
I am sorry I hurt you
Sometimes I get carried away
With my own cares and interests
And tend to ignore your needs
You are the most important person
In my world and life
I am sorry
For all these things and more
I am truly sorry
Please forgive me
by Rachel Sherwood
She sat on his lap for hours
pressed his face to her
large pink breasts her hands
moved through his hair
like fond snakes
she gave him curls, cleft
hooves beneath the flesh
marvellous flesh, and smooth shoulders
she taught him
how to use his tongue
to shape a heart
from a piece of ice.
The Art of a Good Marriage
by Wilferd Arlan Peterson
Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.
A good marriage must be created.
In marriage the little things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say “I love you” at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is at no time taking the other for granted;
the courtship should not end
with the honeymoon, it should continue through the years.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers the whole family.
It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice,
but in the spirit of joy. It is speaking words of appreciation
and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience,
understanding and a sense of humour.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow old.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal,
dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.
It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.
To build a strong relationship is a challenge for both of you. Whether it’s a boy and a girl, a man and a woman, a husband and a wife – they all have to use every effort in order to create a lasting relationship. It is no easy matter. It requires a great deal of time and discipline. The main point lies in dedication. No matter how much time you spend together if you do it without shared desire.
Vow Renewal Poem
How good it is to let our memory wander
And travel back across the fruitful years
To count how many miles we’ve walked together!
On pinnacle of dreams, through vales of tears,
Along the level ground of every day
We’ve made our way.
In sickness and in health, in joy and sadness,
Together, side by side, sunshine or shade,
We’ve worked toward common goals, found
In all the hours of which our years are made.
All things were possible because we shared,
Because we cared.
After many years, we still hold dearest
Of all life’s blessings anywhere on earth
The trust and honor that we give each other,
The love that gave our other blessings birth.
Praise be that I am yours by plan divine,
That you are mine!
To Say Sorry
I know I have done wrong lately
And have hurt you tremendously
All I can say is sorry
Although it seems inadequate, really.
But if you could just let me
To explain my side of the story
Of how painful it can be
To know I have hurt someone so greatly.
My thoughts of you are many
As I want to make it up to you quickly
I’m now hoping fervently
For you to give me this opportunity.
What did I ever do to deserve this?
The bitter truth is that we learn from mistakes. Without making them we wouldn’t become the people we are. If we only could make them without bringing hurt to the people we love.
I’m Sorry that I Disappointed You
by William Byrd. Performed by John Sankey
I’m sorry that I disappointed you
And did what I had promised I would not.
Mistakes can often teach someone a lot,
So please give me a chance before we’re through.
Of all the punishment for my disgrace,
Regret at losing you has hurt the most.
Recall, I beg of you, this tearful ghost,
Yearning to return to your good grace.
by Tina K
How do I tell you I’m sorry –
With a gesture, a look, a touch?
How is it I never realized
I hurt you so very much?
I do not ask forgiveness,
A comfort I’ll never deserve.
I merely want to let you know,
But I cannot find the nerve.
To finally confront you, face-to-face,
To look you in the eye,
To face your wrath, your apathy –
Too terrified to try.
You called me selfish, I turned away,
I festered and I fled;
Cutting and wounding and lashing out,
Just to see if you bled.
Betraying and deceiving you,
I surely had no right
To snatch away such a precious gem;
A dark thief in the night.
Four years and forever passed
To bring us to this day,
When I present these simple words
I never thought to say.
The time has come, it’s long past due,
To put aside my fear;
Would this confession torture you,
Or have you longed to hear?
To hear those two forbidden words,
To vanquish all the pain,
To understand my dearest wish:
To know you once again.
The years aged me remarkably,
Though they have not made me wise;
I do know I erred irrevocably –
For that I apologize.
The older we get the wiser we become. It’s true. Nobody’s perfect. Whether you’re young or old, making mistakes will be always an unavoidable part of your life.
by Derek P. Day
Your feelings got hurt
For something I said
Something I did
For something, maybe
That I didn’t do
Sometimes I act in ways
That I regret
But it’s too late
The damage is done
Causes me pain too
So now, all I can say
Is that I’m sorry
Please forgive me
I Am Sorry
by Leon Weate
Every time I see the pain in your eyes
A little part of my heart dies
No matter how hard and how often you try
All I seem to do is make you cry.
You risk so much and take such chance
To share your heart and your romance
You share your hopes and dreams and fears
And let me in to all that’s dear
All I seem to do is be mean and cold
To fail to cherish, fail to hold
I seem to fail to put you first
You act your best, I am my worst
My mouth contradicts my heart
My actions and thoughts so far apart
I love you with every part of me
Yet act so cruel and thoughtlessly
I dream of you all night and day
And hang on every word you say
Yet all you see is selfishness and arrogance
Casual disdain and ignorance
Assumption and judgment and every thing’s a test
No matter what you do you’re always second best
No matter how hard you try it’s never enough
I never hear your protestations of love
I say I love you and cherish all of our dreams
Yet act as if I can’t hear your screams
Of need and want and stability and trust
My plans never materialize, my promises rust
I scream at myself at how stupid I am
For risking your love, for risking your hand
And I pray every day that you never see
That I need you more than you need me
I bare my heart and my soul to you
To say sorry for what I did and for what I do
I have no excuses and hide no more
All I can offer is my love for evermore.
Too Late To Right My Wrong
by Lamar Ingraham
It would take a miracle to get you now,
After I was too busy chasing every skirt,
Instead of realizing that I’d lose you somehow
To some other man who really values your worth.
Beautiful as you are since I first saw you,
I foolishly took my eyes off such prestige;
You are quite the queen of dreams, a blessing too,
And after all the women, my heart is under siege.
I feel like the greatest piece of me,
Now gone, so long long gone;
When I know that I’d messed up
And it is too too late right my wrong.
Such a strong woman from start to end,
Qualities of a bride, wife, and a helpmate,
But my youth would only let me descend
As I linger skin of teeth now ready to appreciate.
Dellusions of you always being there
Are what made me believe that I could do me;
Yet here I am crying sleeplessly to myself
Alone without you, baby, ever to please.
I feel like the greatest piece of me,
Now gone, so long long gone;
When I know that I’d messed up
And it is too too late right my wrong
My philosophy is simple: if she has forgiven me, than the poem was just the thing.
So, guys, I wish you to choose a sorry poem that fits you the best and pleases your wife as well.
If you’re a poet and have your own apology compositions – please share them with us in comments in order to help other men to fix their past mistakes and improve their relationships.
